Built on the site of the studio that once hosted Germany’s top talk shows, Ruby Ella’s roots are well and truly star-studded. That’s why we’re bringing back the 90s late-night TV buzz, from polished chrome and neon signs to microphones and musical instruments.


Whether you’re a night owl or an early bird, our 24-hour bar menu has you covered. Along with dangerously delicious cocktails and snacks, we serve up a healthy breakfast and barista coffee.


And upstairs, each room is a haven of Lean Luxury calm, designed with sleep experts to help you drift off after a busy day.


Sandwiched between Cologne’s old town and the arty Belgian Quarter, Ruby Ella makes a great base for first-timers and frequent visitors. The city's main sights are a short stroll away, or Friesenplatz station is right outside.

Showbusiness meets hotel

Hit the lights, roll the cameras and strike up the band, because Ruby Ella is coming to you live from the Capitol in Cologne. Once home to The Harald Schmidt Show and TV Total, the spot where Ella now stands was once a studio hosting the biggest names from movies, music and comedy. Combining 90s glitz with 50s glamour, Ella's style blends neon and chrome with plush fabrics and smooth curves, recalling the Capitol’s beginnings as a theatre in the 1950s.

Good to know

How do I get to Ruby Ella?

You'll find us at Hohenzollernring 79-83 50672 Cologne. 


Friesenplatz station is right on our doorstep. From there, the city centre and main station are a five-minute tram ride, and the airport’s half an hour away.

Is there anywhere to park?

We have a small car park with a few integrated EV charging stations – spaces are first come, first served. When you arrive, park outside the hotel and come to the bar to find out more.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is 11am.


If you arrive before 3pm, we'll do our best to find you a room. Otherwise, we'll happily look after your bags while you go exploring or grab a drink.


Fancy a lie in? Just ask our hosts for late check-out options when you arrive.


To check in, look for the screen at the bar and tap in your details. Your key card will pop out the slot and you can head straight to your room. If you need any help, just ask.


There's no need to check out. Simply leave your key card at the bar or in the drop box. We'll send the invoice for your stay to the email address you used when booking.

Can I bring my dog to the hotel?

Vacation with your dog? Absolutely – at Ruby, you can enjoy your best travel moments with your loyal companion. The process is simple: choose your desired hotel, select the Wow Room, and book a spot for your four-legged friend. Your dog can stay with us for € 30 per stay.


Since you know best what your furry friend likes, feel free to bring along treats, a bed, and other favourite items.

Lost & found

Left something behind? We'll do our best to reunite you with your beloved item. Just fill in our lost and found form and our housekeeping team will check if it's been handed in.


We can store your lost item for up to six months after your check-out date. After that, we’ll need to make room for the lost treasures of other guests and dispose of any unclaimed belongings. Thank you for your understanding.
