Ruby Leni Hotel & Bar

A stylish restaurant interior featuring red velvet booths, small round tables with lit candles, crystal chandeliers above, and modern red and black chairs on a wooden floor. Plants are visible near a glass wall.

The stage is set
in Dusseldorf

If you're looking for laidback vibes a stone's throw from the centre of Dusseldorf, Ruby Leni is the place for you. Our tranquil little corner was once home to one of Europe's leading theatres, and now the stage is set once again.

In the atmospheric bar, antique props and vintage costumes hark back to Leni's dramatic past, but the more-ish menu is thoroughly modern. Swing by to catch an up-and-coming band, grab a drink with friends, or settle in for a sundowner on our café-style terrace. And when it's time to unwind, you can step backstage to a haven of Lean Luxury calm: your room.

Leni's a three-minute stroll from the boutiques and cafés of Königsallee. Drop in for a spot of people-watching, then make a beeline for the Rhine and its friendly riverside bars.

  • A stylish bar with red chairs, white round tables, and a red velvet bench. The back wall features shelves with eclectic decor, signs, and dim lighting, creating a cozy, modern atmosphere.
  • A cozy restaurant with plush red booth seating, a round wooden table set with wine glasses, cutlery, candles, and condiments, under large black pendant lights against a textured wall.
  • A cozy lounge area with colorful armchairs, a small table of stacked books, and a large chalkboard, set on a blue rug. The surrounding space features bar stools, tables, and warm ambient lighting.
  • A neatly made bed with white linens and pillows is centered against a dark wood headboard. Two wall lamps are on either side, and a framed artwork hangs above the bed. The room is bright with natural light.

Theatre meets hotel

The spot where Ruby Leni now stands was originally home to another hotel. Stardom beckoned though, and in 1951, the Dusseldorfer Schauspielhaus moved in. In fact, Leni takes her name from Helena in Gustav Gründgens’ ground-breaking production of Goethe’s Faust which premiered at the Schauspielhaus in the 1950s, before becoming a movie classic. Recalling her time in the limelight, we’ve set the scene with antique props and costumes, along with sweeping lines, plush fabrics and carefully chosen vintage pieces.
