Ancient Roman ruins, including a stone amphitheater with arches and columns, stand beside old buildings and a domed church under a partly cloudy sky in Rome.

A brief encounter with the Eternal City

Book your stay in the city centre

Whether you’re in Rome for ancient relics, rooftop bars or irresistible dishes at every turn, you won’t be disappointed. From Ruby Giulia, it’s just a 20-minute stroll to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum – the very heart of the ancient city.

Follow your nose past trendy cafés and big-name shops, or dive off down a side street to discover charming, tree-lined piazzas and hidden gardens. Gelato in hand, of course.

And when you get back after a busy day of exploring, there’ll be a spot for you on our relaxed roof terrace. Grab a drink and some shade, and ease into the evening.

Channel your inner spy and step back in time to the suave 1970s – the era when our Roman home played host to the Italian security service. If Ruby Giulia’s walls could talk, we’re sure they’d let slip some top-notch gossip (or else be sworn to secrecy). For now, though, they’re showcasing some classic seventies style, with a modern twist. Think velvet, corduroy and chrome, with bold tones and geometric patterns.

  • Great for: exploring the ancient city, with all the big sights in easy strolling distance
  • Local favourites: admiring the grand architecture of Via Nazionale as you amble into town (just look out for lampposts)
  • Nearest station: Roma Termini

Ruby Giulia’s spot on the main street between Roma Termini station and the city’s top landmarks makes it a great base for a visit to Rome.

City centre & Shopping

The Colosseum and Roman Forum are just 20 minutes away on foot. But with window-shopping and people-watching galore en route, prepare for slower progress.

If you’re in the mood for some serious retail therapy, detour to Via del Corso for those big brands. Or – if your wallet can handle it – hit up Via Condotti for a dose of haute couture.

Once you’re rocking that chic new look, follow in the footsteps of Audrey Hepburn and make for the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Feeling daring (and honest)? Try your hand in the Bocca della Verità, the Mouth of Truth.

Food

When it’s time to refuel, pick up picnic bits at the market in Campo de’Fiori, and wander over to Piazza Navona to check out the fountains. Or, for something more filling, find a cosy spot serving the simple but delicious local favourite: cacio e pepe. Either way, be sure to pick up a gelato for the road.

Culture

If you’re seeking something more sacred, cross the Tiber to the Vatican and soak up the atmosphere in St Peter's Square. For a moment of reflection, the shady cool of St Peter’s Basilica is a must, along with marvelling at the work of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.

Views

Time for a sundowner? Then make tracks back to – where else? – Ruby Giulia. Drink in hand, pick a spot on the rooftop to watch the sun set and the fairy lights flicker on.
