From haberdashery to hotel in Vienna

Ruby Marie began life as Austria’s first department store. Overlooking Vienna's top shopping street, elegant floors offered everything from haute couture to homeware. Now, revamped and revived, Ruby Marie is a dream for shopaholics, with the city's flagship stores right outside our door.


In the bar and in the pretty rooftop garden, our expert mixologists stir up signature cocktails, alongside carefully picked beers and wines. Start your evening with an apéritif, catch a local band or drop in for a nightcap – we're open 24/7. And, come bedtime, each room at Ruby Marie is a haven of Lean Luxury calm, designed with serious sleep in mind. 


As well as the shops, some of Vienna's main sights are a short stroll away, and Wien-Westbahnhof station is just across the road. The airport's around half an hour away by train – ideal for a flying visit with a spot of retail therapy.

Stylish ambiance with history

For nearly 90 years, Ruby Marie was known among the city’s chicest as much more than just a shopping destination. With a restaurant, viewing terrace and even a cinema, her distinctive circular floors were the place to see and be seen. In 2015, at the age of 104, this Viennese icon made a suitably stylish comeback – in the shape of Ruby Marie. From luxe lamps and plush sofas to vintage posters and tailoring tools, our design recalls the opulence and energy of her 1960s heyday. And green energy runs through her veins – earning LEED Platinum status.

    During Ruby Marie’s retail days, her crowning glory was a cinema – one of the first in Vienna, no less. So it seemed only fitting to reinstate a screening room, with décor inspired by the swinging 60s. With a big screen and 25 luxurious leather seats, the movie lounge is a cosy spot to catch a classic.     As part of our revamp, we fitted clever fixtures that reduce water consumption by around 40%. And, by improving the building's insulation and installing new systems, we've reduced energy consumption by 26%.

    To reduce the heat our building absorbs, we used bright, reflective materials for the roof's surface, and created a green roof to further minimise the heat island effect.

How do I get to Ruby Marie?

You'll find us at Mariahilfer Strasse 120/Ecke Kaiserstrasse 2-4, 1070 Vienna.


Ruby Marie is a six-minute walk from Wien-Westbahnhof station, which is about half an hour from the airport. You'll also find trams for exploring within the city.

Is there anywhere to park?

Ruby Marie guests get an exclusive discount at the APCOA car park on Kaiserstrasse, just across the road. Simply park your car, take a regular ticket, then ask a Ruby host to exchange it for a Ruby ticket.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is 11am.


If you arrive before 3pm, we'll do our best to find you a room. Otherwise, we'll happily look after your bags while you go exploring or grab a drink.


Fancy a lie in? Just ask our hosts for late check-out options when you arrive.


To check in, look for the screen at the bar and tap in your details. Your key card will pop out the slot and you can head straight to your room. If you need any help, just ask.


There's no need to check out. Simply leave your key card at the bar or in the drop box. We'll send the invoice for your stay to the email address you used when booking.

Can I bring my dog to the hotel?

Vacation with your dog? Absolutely – at Ruby, you can enjoy your best travel moments with your loyal companion. The process is simple: choose your desired hotel, select the Wow Room category, and book a spot for your four-legged friend. Your dog can stay for 30 EUR per stay.


Since you know best what your furry friend likes, feel free to bring along treats, toys, a bed, and other favorite items.

What are the opening times of the terrace?

Our Rooftop Garden awaits you daily, from Monday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Escape the city buzz, spend a lazy afternoon basking with a book above the skyline of Vienna and unwind after a long day with a refreshing cocktail at sunset.

Left something behind? We'll do our best to reunite you. Just fill in our lost and found form and our housekeeping team will check if it's been handed in.


We can store your lost item for up to six months after your check-out date. After that, we’ll need to make room for the lost treasures of other guests and dispose of any unclaimed belongings. Thank you for your understanding.
