Taking her place on London’s historic South Bank, Ruby Lucy may be a newcomer but she’s channelling some serious old-world charm.
In an area famed for its pleasures – both genteel and guilty – we’ve taken inspiration from the fly-by-night world of markets and fairgrounds.
To capture that fleeting moment of excitement and excess, we’ve sprinkled a little carnival magic throughout our design.
Rich, dark tones meet bright brass accents and subtle stripes are set off by circus drums and juggling pins.
Along with a bar menu offering quirky cocktails and Italian-inspired snacks, you’ll find a healthy breakfast buffet and delicious barista brews. (Because we don’t clown around when it comes to our coffee.)
Upstairs, each room reflects our Lean Luxury style. As well as a big, comfy bed, a rainfall shower and soft, fluffy towels, you’ll find a Marshall amp for some lower-key diversion.
Waterloo station’s a three-minute walk away, and the city’s main sights are a short hop by tube or bus.
A newcomer to London’s bustling South Bank, Ruby Lucy rubs shoulders with some of the city’s lesser-known cultural gems. From theatres and galleries to concert halls and independent shops and restaurants, the area buzzes with ever-changing artistic flair and creativity.
A ten-minute stroll will take you to the Thames and the London Eye, from where Big Ben, Westminster, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden are a short walk or bus ride across the river.
If it’s history you’re after, head west through St James’s Park for a glimpse of Buckingham Palace, or hop on an eastbound boat to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. For shopaholics, the bright lights of Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street are a few stops from Waterloo, while foodies should make a beeline for Borough Market, which is three minutes away by tube.
Waterloo station is a three-minute walk away, and with mainline trains, four tube lines, buses and boats at hand, it’s easy to reach any corner of the city. Both Gatwick and Heathrow airports are around 40 minutes away by train or tube.
While we don’t have our own car park, there’s a public one just four minutes’ walk from our front door.
A 24-hour ticket costs £20 and you can book your spot in advance or pay on the day.

Like you, we travel a lot. And wherever we go, we expect three things: a great night’s sleep, a powerful shower and top-notch connections – both to the city and the WiFi.
What we’re less keen on is paying for extras we never use. In dynamic cities bursting with Michelin stars and foodie pop-ups, room service sandwiches just don’t cut the mustard.
So we set out to create the best of both worlds – hotels with style and substance, but none of those expensive extras.
It’s what we call Lean Luxury.
To us, luxury means laid-back comfort in characterful surroundings, right in the heart of the city.
The lean part is all about being smart with space, streamlining things behind the scenes and doing away with the things you don’t need.
This innovative approach saves us and you money, without compromising on comfort.
