Book your stay in the city centre

Best known for its expansive Bierkellers and hearty Bavarian dishes, Munich's a must for ale aficionados. But there's more to this friendly city than Steins and Schweinshaxe. From pretty parks and colourful markets to city-centre surfing and incredible food from every corner of the globe, it's packed with cosmopolitan charm. That said, on a sunny day, the beer gardens are sublime.

For super-fast connections to the airport, the city and across the continent, Ruby Rosi is a fairytale spot, right in the heart of the action. For a slower-pace, Ruby Lilly's a short stroll from the centre, with easy access to parks and museums.

Explore the neighbourhood

Munich might be best known for Oktoberfest, but there's plenty to keep everyone amused, all year round. And the good news is, everything's within easy reach of Ruby Lilly and Ruby Rosi.

City centre

The Altstadt is a great place to start exploring. To get your bearings, wind your way to Marienplatz, Munich's central square, passing the imposing, two-towered Frauenkirche along the way. If you time it right, you might just catch the chiming of the ornate Glockenspiel, in the tower of the Neues Rathaus.

Shopping

From there, the city's top shopping spots are just steps away. Sendlinger Strasse and the surrounding streets are home to big brands and local indies that are well worth a browse.

When you've worked up an appetite, set your sights on the Viktualienmarkt. This 200-year-old market is a great place to pick up picnic bits, and even has a beer garden so you can stop for a snifter.

Museums

If it's culture you're after, make Königsplatz and the grand museums and galleries of Kunstareal your next stop. And, when you're ready for some fresh air, the sprawling Englischer Garten offers an escape from urban life. Hugging the banks of the Isar, it's a beautifully landscaped space for a stroll.

English Garden

For a vicarious shot of adrenaline, swing by the Eisbach wave. Whatever the weather, you'll find expert surfers braving the chilly water to tackle this standing wave.

Night life

As the sun sets, Maximiliansplatz is the place to be. For foodies, there are endless dinner options, while night owls can happily bar hop until the small hours. For a more laidback vibe, settle in to a beer hall or garden, and while away the evening over Schweinshaxe and a Stein or two.
