First hotel in Germany, RUBY LILLY, opened last week in Munich
The expansion of Munich-based hotel group RUBY HOTELS is progressing quickly. With the opening of their third hotel, RUBY LILLY, in Munich, the group is now also present in the German market. Five more projects in Vienna, Dusseldorf, and Hamburg, amongst others, are secured by contract. Hence, the group will be operating eight hotels by 2018. Well-known partners, such as Art-Invest, Allianz Real Estate, CBRE Investors, and Patrizia support RUBY in this undertaking.
All hotels consistently implement RUBY’s very own LEAN LUXURY philosophy: “Top location, high-quality room fittings, genuinely good design – all for an affordable price. We offer our guests outstanding value for money,” Michael Struck, CEO and founder of RUBY explains. “This works, because we accommodate luxury in a relatively condensed space, as in luxury yachts, and forego marginal services like a minibar or room service. Thanks to proprietary technical innovations, we plan, build and organize ourselves differently from conventional hotels. To be precise, we plan and build in a very modular way and centralize as well as automatize processes behind the scenes wherever possible. This helps to make luxury affordable for our guests.”
Luxurious location and furnishings for affordable prices
The locations of the new RUBY hotels are chosen in a very disciplined manner: In the middle of the city centre, frequently in close vicinity to renowned five-star and luxury-hotels.
The newly opened RUBY LILLY HOTEL MUNICH is located directly at Stiglmaierplatz, in the centre of the city. Sir Rocco Forte’s Luxury-Hotel ‘The Charles’ is only a block away. Historic Königsplatz with its museums, many trendy restaurants, and bars as well as Maximiliansplatz, the heart of Munich’s nightlife, are only a couple of minutes away by foot.
LEAN LUXURY also shapes the hotel’s interior. The rooms are dominated by high-quality wooden wall-panelling, cashmere, atmospheric light, a luxury bed, and luxury shower. RUBY’s self-created RUBY CARE amenities follow RUBY’s luxury aspiration: manufactured with aromatherapeutic scents, without any petroleum-derivates, and in compostable dispensers. The majority of the 174 rooms enjoys floor-to-ceiling windows with a panoramic view across Munich. Apart from 42“HD TVs, every room has a tablet-PC which serves as an online concierge.
Passion for music
Every room is equipped with a Marshall-Amp, matching electric guitars can be rented at the bar. To listen to your own music, it is also possible to connect a smartphone to the speakers. Guests can also play the hotel’s very own Internet-radio station, RUBY RADIO. As in the group’s Viennese Hotels, RUBY LILLY will regularly host gigs of local bands and DJs. The hotel curates its own city guide with – avowedly subjective, since personal – recommendations for Munich’s music, cultural, and gastronomic scene. The corresponding background stories are highlighted on the hotel’s own blog. Moreover, to explore the city, bikes can be rented easily at the hotel.
Individuality and local connection
The interior design as well as the F&B offering have a distinctly local angle. Each of the group’s hotels is designed to be unique, aiming to be a place with character and soul.
At RUBY LILLY, for example, the interior revolves around Munich’s glitterati society, all with a lovingly self-ironic twist as known in Germany from TV series such as “Monaco Franze,“ “Kir Royale,“ and “Münchner Geschichten“ by Helmut Dietl. Especially the fictional character of Monaco Franze and his Munich of the 80ies make a strong appearance at RUBY LILLY. In the TV series, “Lilly“ was Monaco Franze‘s big, unfulfilled love.
Local and regional manufacturers shape the F&B offer. The hotel bar is open around the clock for hotel guests. Also at breakfast, RUBY’s credo “Less, but the right things” prevails. All breakfast products offered are all-organic. The breakfast rate includes barista coffee by Hausbrandt, whole-grain breads, hand-cut fruit and powerfood muesli.
Laid-back elegance and the feeling of being at home
RUBY’s interior design combines elegance with nonchalant contrasts of coarse and fine surfaces. Classical black and golden accents, as well as hand-selected vintage furniture dominate the public spaces of RUBY LILLY. The bar offers comfortable armchairs and big family tables. The ‘Library,‘ a kind of living room combined with work spaces, allows for small meetings and concentrated work sessions. An idyllic green rooftop terrace on the 7th floor offers panoramic views across the entire city, with bar service during summer months.
RUBY’s service philosophy is to offer personal attention without formalities, relaxed and casual as nowadays appreciated by modern and post-modern target groups. To ensure that nonchalance does not become carelessness, RUBY invests in carefully selecting and training the multicultural service team. The results show in Vienna: RUBY MARIE is one of the city’s best-rated hotels and was just awarded Tripadvisor’s popular ‘Travellers‘ Choice Award‘ as one of the 25 most romantic Austrian hotels.
Team reinforcement
In order to ensure RUBY‘s high standards for construction and operation, for the upcoming five hotel openings, RUBY recently has added several more experienced specialists. The head office expanded with 16 new employees in the areas of Technical Services, Operations, Sales & Marketing, Finance, and HR.
