One of the factors behind the success of the Munich-based Ruby Group, led by founder and CEO Michael Struck, is the extensive know-how that the brand has acquired in recent years through the successful conversion of a wide variety of existing properties.

Jorge Lopez, who joined Ruby in 2019, has been promoted to Group Director Architecture. This also sets Ruby's in-house architecture team on course for further expansion. In his position, Lopez is responsible for planning guidelines for new buildings and renovations, feasibility studies, and architectural design concepts for new projects. A particular focus is the continuous optimization of space efficiency using Ruby's modular architectural toolkit, which uses more than 100 different room geometries. He is also responsible for integrating hotel space into complex mixed-use properties so that the design best serves the interests of all uses and all occupants. Lopez and his team work closely with Development and serve as expert advisors to Ruby's real estate partners through all phases of planning.

In addition, Stefanie Michele has been promoted to Group Director Construction. She joined Ruby at the beginning of 2017 and, together with her team, is responsible for the project management of all construction projects from the planning phase until when the hotel is taken over by the Operations Department. For projects where Ruby is providing parts of the construction services, Michele's team is also responsible for project steering and oversight of the construction schedule, including all tenders and contracting, as well as for site management. In doing so, the Construction Team works closely with the Interior Design, Architecture and Maintenance departments.

Jorge Lopez and Stefanie Michele report directly to Richard Hartl, Group Vice President Technical Service at Ruby.

Ruby will open two new hotels in April: Ruby Rosi in Munich and Ruby Claire in Geneva. In addition, Ruby Paul will be the first workspace to open in Vienna.

About Ruby Hotels

The Munich-based Ruby Group under the leadership of founder and CEO Michael Struck is breaking new ground with its Lean Luxury philosophy. With a lean organisational structure and concentration on the essentials, Ruby succeeds in creating a contemporary, affordable form of luxury for modern, cost and style-conscious customers.

Founded in 2013, the Group already operates 18 Ruby hotels across Europe, with a further seven hotels under construction or in the planning phase. In addition, Ruby is expanding into China via a joint venture with Delonix, headed by Alex Zheng, one of China’s most accomplished hotel entrepreneurs. Ruby also offers Ruby Workspaces in Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Vienna, Stuttgart, and Malta – perfectly equipped workplaces and a creative atmosphere with access to an inspiring office community.

Financially strong partners support Ruby’s expansion. ECE Group; the Austrian Soravia Group; Franger Investment, a German family office; Ocean Link, a private equity fund; the entrepreneur Michael Hehn; and Michael Struck jointly hold the company shares.
