From bathhouse to ballroom

Ruby Sofie began life as the Sofiensäle, a grand 19th-century bathhouse. Thanks to her outstanding acoustics though, singing in the shower quickly turned to concerts and gala balls, with everyone from Johann Strauss to the Kinks gracing her stage.


When it comes to design, we’ve taken cues from our leading lady’s past life, mixing vintage playbills and furnishings with a head-turning piano.

Check-in is from 3pm. If you arrive early, we're happy to look after your bags. Check-out is at 11am. Just drop your key card at the bar and we'll email your invoice.

    For a little slice of paradise, head up to the 5th floor. With views out over the city, our compact terrace is a great escape from the hustle and bustle below. Start your day with a sun salutation, spend an afternoon basking or grab a drink to savour with the sunset. We only go al fresco in fair weather, so please ask a host for opening times during your stay.

Our tasty, locally sourced breakfast buffet is served in the bar every morning, along with bottomless barista coffee or organic tea. Tuck into fresh fruit and superfood cereals, along with wholegrain bread and a delicious selection of meats and cheeses. Our favourite is the local speciality, Liptauer. Grab a bagel or a slice of bread and top with lashings of this seriously addictive spicy cream cheese.
