One Day in Dusseldorf

We just opened our new hotel in Dusseldorf, Ruby Leni in the heart of the city and want to show you some of our favourite things to do in Dusseldorf.

The city is famous for shopping on Königsallee, long strolls along the river Rhine or drinking at the ‘world’s longest bar’. But there's so much more to see and do. May we present - our perfect day in Dusseldorf:

• 9:00 am - Good Morning 
  Our beds are just too comfy to leave them too early. So turn around one more time and cuddle a bit.
• 10:00 am - Time for Breakfast
  Start your day right with our organic breakfast and our delicious Hausbrandt coffee. Want to try out something else? Our favourite breakfast spot in Dusseldorf is just 75m away. Try out Rosies and don't forget to order their amazing pancakes.

• 11:30 am - Walking around the city
  After having eaten lots of pancakes, we prefer walking around the city for a bit. As Ruby Leni is located directly in the city centre, you can choose between walking on the busy Königsallee and do some window shopping or you might pass the Dussel and walk towards the Rhine promenade.
• 12:00 am - Museum Time
  After a short walk, you will reach KIT - Kunst im Tunnel, a contemporary art museum, directly at the Rhine. The museum seems rather small from the outside, but has an underground exhibition area of 850m². The exhibitions change regularly, but are always worth a visit.

• 1:00 pm - Lunch at Carlsplatz
  We're slowly getting hungry again so we make our way to Carlsplatz, a food market that is our favourite lunch spot. More than 60 stalls offer fresh and regional dishes, vegetables, fish and many more delicacies. But the Carlsplatz is more than just a food market. It's the diversity of the market we love the most - you can find food from many different countries and eat together with everyone on long tables.

• 2:00 pm - Ice Cream Time
  It's time for dessert. While there are many offers on Carlsplatz too, we have our favourite spot just at the next corner. Yomaro - famous for it's frozen yoghurt that had it's trend years ago but here, you still have to wait in line for the best frozen yoghurt in town. We promise, it's worth the wait.

• 3:00 pm - Exploring Oberkassel
  Even though the biggest part of Dusseldorf is on one side of the Rhine, there're some districts on the other side of the Rhine as well. For example Oberkassel, one of the most prettiest neighbourhoods in Dusseldorf. We like to walk from Carlsplatz through the old town of Dusseldorf, pass the Oberkassler bridge and then you're already in Oberkassel. Have a look at all the pretty old buildings, the nice cafés and little boutiques.

• 5:00 pm - Make your way to Little Tokyo
  Next on our agenda - Littly Tokyo, the Asian district in Dusseldorf. It's still in walking distance, passing the Hofgarten, a big park in the city centre and the old town again. But if you're tired of walking, you can also take any tram in Oberkassel, exit at Oststraße and you'll feel as if you just entered a new country. Having arrived in Little Tokyo, we just like to stroll around the streets, visit an Asian supermarket and watch the people. While Oberkassel was a cosy corner of the city, Littly Tokyo is a more hectic part of Dusseldorf.

• 7:00 pm - Time for Dinner
  After a whole day of walking through the city - it's finally time for dinner. We love to keep up that Asian vibe and check out one of the Japanese streetkitchens. Our favourite is Takumi, a typical Ramen Bar, the interior is absolutly authentic and the  food is to die for.

• 8:30 pm - Barhopping in the Altstadt
  Time for some nightlife. You can either go Barhopping in the Altstadt, the so called 'longest bar of Germany', and try the local spirit Lillepitsch or check out one of the decent bars, e. g. the Beuys Bar, that offers dangerously good drinks in a cosy atmosphere. If you're still up for a longer walk, you can also test the LiQ Bar, located in Pempelfort. The place is hidden in a off track neighbourhood and for the real speakeasy vibe the guests have to ring a bell to access the bar.

• 10:00 pm - Good Night Dusseldorf
  Ending the day where it started - at our Ruby Leni. But before hopping into our cosy bed, we step by at our bar for a little night cap.
