Aperitivo Recipes from our home to yours

Because everyone needs a little bit of Aperitivo in their life, our hosts decided to share their favourite Drink Recipes with you over on our Instagram Stories. Here, you can find all ingredients and how to's compiled into one blogpost, so you'll be able to recreate your favourite drink whenever you want to.

BALI'S SPRITZ

First is an Aperitivo Crowd Favourite: the Basils Spritz. A really delicious and fresh drink, that's easy to recreate and enjoy at home.

Ingredients:

  • Dry Gin
  • Prosecco
  • Balis Lemonade
  • Ice, Lime and Basil

How to:
Start by putting some of your ice into a wine glass and pour around 4 cl of dry gin on top. It doesn't really matter what kind of gin you're using, as long as it's dry gin (though we usually use Tanqueray). Continue by adding 20cl of Processeco and filling the glass up with Balis Lemonade. Then top your drink off with some basil and lime wedges and it's ready to enjoy!

NEGRONI

Next up is a true classic: the Negroni.

Ingredients:

  • Red Vermouth
  • Dry Gin
  • Campari
  • Ice and Orange

How to:
We recommend using a mixing glass, but if you don't have one on hand, you can just use the glass you're going to serve your drink in. Start by putting some ice into your glass and then simply pour 3cl each of the Red Vermouth, Gin and Campari. Stir that around and garnish it with some Orange Zest for a fun twist before serving.

WHISKEY SOUR

On the search for a drink to impress? Then the whiskey sour is the perfect choice: creamy and sweet but with a bit of a tang - and still really easy to recreate at home.

Ingredients:

  • Whiskey
  • Lemon Juice
  • Sugar Syrup
  • Orange and Ice
  • Egg White (Optional)

How to:
Start out by pouring 6cl of Whiskey - you can use what you have at home, but we  recommend choosing a Bourbon Whiskey as it makes the drink more creamy and sweet. To that add 2cl of sugar syrup (which you can either make at home or just buy at the store) and 3cl of lemon juice. Then simply shake your mixture with some ice and serve it over some ice with Orange Zest.

Bonus Tip: If you want your drink to be extra creamy, simply add the egg white, before shaking!

APEROL SPRITZ

The first drink in our Sundowner Special and a true classic!

Ingredients:

  • Aperol
  • Prosecco
  • Soda Water

How-to:
Grab a Wine glass and put a few ice cubes in it. Continue by adding your Aperol - a little tip from our bartenders is to just count until 4 while pouring it and you get the perfect ratio, without having to measure it out! Then fill your glass up with Prosecco and leave some space for your soda water and an Orange slice for garnish.

HUGO

Ingredients:

  • Elderflower Syrup
  • Prosecco
  • Soda Water

How-to:
Start with ice cubes once again and pour 4 ratios of your syrup into your glass (again you can just count to four for the perfect amount). Add 14 cl of Prosecco and fill it up with soda water. Top your drink off with some fresh mint and that's it!

HOMEMADE LEMONADE

For all of you, that just crave something refreshing without alcohol in it.

Ingredients:

  • Elderflower Syrup
  • Soda Water
  • Lime Juice

How-to:
Fill your glass with some ice again and start with syrup or lime juice, while counting to 4. Then simply fill your glass up with soda water and there you go.

An extra tipp would be adding a bit of passionfruit-syrup and fresh mint to make your beverage extra special!

MOSCOW MULE

An impressive drink, that you can make in under two minutes – if you have one at hand, you should definitely serve it in a copper mug as it helps to keep the drink cold for longer!

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Lime juice
  • Ginger beer
  • Cucumber for Garnish

How to:
Like with pretty much every drink, we’re also starting out by putting some ice in your glass (or copper mug!). Then add 4cl of Vodka on top of that and continue by pouring in a bit of lime juice. Lastly fill it up with your ginger beer and finish your drink off with some fresh cucumber.

INFUSED GIN MULE

An even more refreshing version of the classic that you just learned to make.

Ingredients:

  • Tea of your choice (maybe give our samova official Ruby tea a try!)
  • Gin
  • Lime juice
  • Ginger beer
  • Cucumber and/or mint for garnish

How to:
Infuse the Gin with a tea of your choice – like our own Ruby tea – and leave it until the Gin changes its colour. Then pour 4cl of that infused Gin on ice and add a little bit of lime juice. Fill it up with ginger beer as you would when mixing a Moscow Mule and garnish with Mint and Cucumber.

ESPRESSO MARTINI

Definitely not the easiest drink to make, but we're sure you can do it!

Ingredients:

  • Vodka
  • Kahlua (or any coffee liquor)
  • Sugar syrup
  • Espresso

How to:
For this drink it is really important to use a cold glass - that's why we suggest you start out by putting some ice into your martini glass to cool it down, while you prepare the rest of the drink. Then continue by pouring 4cl of vodka, 2cl of coffee liquor (we recommend kahlua for the most classic version) and 1.5cl sugar syrup into a shaker. Most importantly: Don't forget to add your espresso before shaking the drink with some ice. Now all that's left to do is to strain and pour the cocktail into the prepared glass!

HORSES NECK

Next up is a drink that's really easy to prepare compared to the Espresso Martini - but just as yummy!

Ingredients:

  • Whisky
  • Angostura
  • Ginger Ale
  • Orange Wedge (optional)

How to:
As said before, this drink is incredibly easy to make. Simply pour 4cl of whisky - we used Jameson - and 2cl dashes of Angostura into a glass, fill it up with some ginger ale and finish your drink off by adding some ice and an optional Orange Wedge.

CRODINO SPRITZ / WINE

And now, last but not least the non alcoholic option of this weeks Aperitivo. (that you of course can add some prosecco to, if you want)

Ingredients:

  • Crodino
  • Lemon Juice
  • Sparkling water / Soda or Prosecco

How to:
Start by pouring the Crodino into a wine glass. Then add about 1.5cl of lemon juice and fill it up with either some sparkling water for a non-alcoholic or prosecco for an alcoholic option. Lastly add some icecubes as always.

ZERO WASTE SPECIAL

On this Weeks Aperitivo Zero Waste Special, we’re teaching you all about using your fruit leftovers to make delicious drinks at home. Every Drink we’re showing includes a homemade syrup, using the parts of fruit you would normally waste to create a yummy drink.

BANANA SPLIT OLD FASHIONED

We’re starting out with a cocktail inspired by the classic dessert, that unites chocolate with the best of Banana and Rum.

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml Aged Rum
  • 15 ml of your homemade Banana Oleo Saccharum (Bananapeel + Sugar)
  • 3 dashes of Chocolate Bitters

How to:
This one takes quite a bit of time – but it’s oh-so-worth it! Start out 2 days before by making your own Banana Oleo Saccharum (Latin for sugared oil). Just put your leftover banana peel into a sealable container, cover them with enough sugar, put the lid on and let it sit in your fridge for about 2 days. After that time has passed, all natural oils should’ve been extracted from the banana peels and you can strain that liquid into a once again sealable bottle and use it in your drinks.

For the cocktail itself, you just have to pour 50ml of aged rum, 15ml of the Banana Oleo Saccharum we just made and 3 dashes of Chocolate Bitters into a glass and stir with some ice. Done!

GET WASTE(D)

This is a more tropical and refreshing drink, which includes some Pineapple syrup made from scratch.

Ingredients (Cocktail):

  • 40ml Tequila
  • 20ml Pineapplepeel syrup
  • 10ml Lime juice
  • Tonic Water

Ingredients (Syrup):

  • Pineapple Peel + Stem
  • 300ml Water
  • 300g Sugar
  • Spices (optional)

How to:
Once again start out by making the syrup. For that, combine leftover pineapple peel, as well as the middle part you don’t eat with 300ml of water and 300g of sugar. Let that simmer in a saucepan on medium heat, until all of the sugar is dissolved and you can’t see any granulated parts. (you can also add some optional spices at this point, like cinnamon, pepper or even chili). Then turn down the heat and let simmer for about 2 hours before you strain the mixture into a sealable bottle.

For the cocktail shake up 40ml of Tequila, 10ml of Lime Juice and 20ml of the syrup you just made with some ice, pour it into a glass and fill up with some tonic water.

TANGERINE TRASH

Next up is a fruity and refreshing cocktail that uses self-made Tangerine-Strawberry Liqueur.

Ingredients (Cocktail):

  • 30ml Tangerine Strawberry Gin
  • 30ml sweet Vermouth
  • 30ml Campari Style Bitter Liquor
  • 2 dashes of Peychaud Bitters

Ingredients (Syrup):

  • Tangerine Peel
  • Strawberry Stems
  • Gin

How-to:
For the flavored Gin, fill the tangerine peels and strawberry stems into a sealable container and pour Gin on top of them. Then all that’s left to do is to strain the mixture into a bottle after 24 hours of letting them sit.

For the cocktail combine 30ml of the homemade Tangerine Strawberry Gin with 30ml of sweet Vermouth, as well as 30ml of Campari Style Bitter Liquor and 2 dashes of Peychaud Bitters and enjoy!

GARBAGE TRUCK

Last but not least is another cocktail using the combination of Tangerine and Strawberry (because it’s just that good), but this time in form of an infused liqueur.

Ingredients (for the Cocktail):

  • 60ml Cognac
  • 30ml Lemon Juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • 30ml Tangerine Strawberry liquor
  • 40ml Bavarian Wheat beer

Ingredients (for the Syrup):

  • Tangerine Peel
  • Strawberry Stems
  • Gin
  • 75% Sugar Syrup

How-to:
For the liqueur just follow the same steps as for the infused gin, but this time add sugar syrup in a 1:0,75 ratio to make it a liqueur.

For the cocktail shake 60ml of Cognac, 30ml of Lemon Juice, 10ml of sugar syrup and 30ml of your homemade Tangerine Strawberry Liqueur with some ice, pour it into a glass and top the drink with around 40ml of Bavarian Wheat Beer.

GIN BASIL SMASH

A modern and fresh twist on gin featuring basil as its star.

Ingredients:

  • Dry Gin
  • Agave Syrup
  • Lemon Juice
  • Basil

How to:
Start by putting some icecubes and 5cl of Gin into a shaker. Add 2cl Agave Syrup and 3cl of Lemon Juice to that and finally a handfull of basil. Shake the mixture and then all that's left is to pour the drink on ice and enjoy!

COSMOPOLITAN

A true classic, that's not just for Sex and the city fans.

Ingredients:

  • Cranberry Juice
  • Vodka
  • Cointreau
  • Lemon juice
  • Orange Zest

How to:
This cocktail is as easy to make as it is delicious. Simply pour 4cl of vodka, 2cl cranberry juice and 2cl of Cointreau into a shaker, add 2cl lemon juice and shake. Serve your cocktail in a martini glas to make it extra fancy, garnish with an orange zest and done!

GIN FIZZ

A sparkling version of our all time favorite: the Gin Tonic

Ingredients:

  • 4cl Gin
  • 1 Eggwhite
  • 2cl Lime Juice
  • 2cl Sugar Syrup
  • Soda
  • Limezest for Garnish

How to:
Put the Gin, Lime juice, sugar syrup and an eggwhite into a shaker and shake about 12 seconds without any ice. Then add some icecubes to the mixture and shake for 12 seconds again. Pour the cocktail and the ice you used while shaking into a glass and top it off with some soda. Finally garnish your drink with some limezest and enjoy!

HIBISCUS LEMON GIN

Ingredients:

  • 6cl Gin
  • 2cl Lemon Juice
  • 3cl Hibiscus flower syrup
  • Tonic water
  • Candied Hibiscusflower for decor

How to:
Fill a glas up with some ice and then add the gin, lemon juice and syrup. Fill it up with some tonic water and give the drink a good stir, before garnishing it with around 2 thin slices of lemon and some candied hibiscus flowers.

LEFTOVER SPECIAL

This is a drink for everyone, that just enjoys a spontaneous drink every now and then and can't be bothered to buy masses of extra ingredients, as it works with everything you already have at home.

Ingredients:

As said before - anything you can find at home!
Just try to have something ...

  • sweet: like Syrup, sugar or honey
  • sour: for example lemon- or limejuice, but grapefruits, oranges and even sour apples would do
  • strong: the alcohol of your choice

How to:

We recommend using ice cubes, but if you don't have any on hand, putting your liquor into the fridge before mixing the drink will do just fine. What's important when putting together your drink, is not the exact amount of liquids that you pour, it's the ratio! Just use 3 parts of liquor, 2 parts of sour, and 1 part of sweet - just like a countdown to an amazing drink.
