RUBY Opens Fourth Hotel

RUBY LISSI HOTEL in the center of Vienna tells tales of Empress Elisabeth’s travels

Excellent Location in the 1st District

The RUBY Group just opened their fourth hotel, centrally located in the center of Vienna, only a few weeks after celebrating the opening of their third hotel in Munich. The new RUBY LISSI HOTEL is located in the 1st district, the heart of Vienna’s historic city center at ‚Am Laurenzerberg 2‘. Many of the major sightseeing hotspots, business addresses and the city’s nightlife scene are just steps away. The public transportation hub Schwedenplatz is located right around the corner from the hotel.

Conversion of Offices in Mixed-Use Property

The conversion of the spaces formerly used as offices was executed largely by RUBY itself, from planning through to the interior fittings, and is part of an extensive repositioning of the property by the main owner, a real-estate development fund of IFA Institut für Anlageberatung. Besides the hotel, the gorgeous listed building also houses two embassies, a clinic, retail, offices, and apartments.

Lean Luxury Philosophy

RUBY LISSI follows RUBY‘s LEAN LUXURY philosophy: Top location, high-quality room fittings, good, genuine design concentrating on the essential. All at an affordable price by rigorously cutting out what is superfluous, focusing on the essential. “This works because we accommodate luxury in a relatively condensed space, similar to luxury yachts. We forego superfluous and unnecessary services. Thanks to proprietary technical innovations, we plan, build and organize ourselves differently from conventional hotels. To be precise, we plan and build in a very modular way and centralize as well as automatize processes behind the scenes wherever possible. This helps us create a luxurious and unique hotel experience at an affordable price,“ Struck explains the group’s approach.

Laid-back Elegance in 107 Rooms

Also, the 107 rooms of RUBY LISSI are shaped by LEAN LUXURY: the luxurious interior tastefully combines elegance with nonchalance. Hardwood flooring, cherrywood paneling, fine textiles and ingeniously composed lighting create a relaxed atmosphere. Respecting the spirit of LEAN LUXURY, the focus is on what is essential in a city hotel: Sleeping, showering and multimedia. Luxurious beds with king-size pocket spring mattresses and big high-quality linens, created especially for Ruby, offer regenerating sleep. The glass rain shower makes for a refreshing shower experience with RUBY-own aromatherapeutic RUBY CARE amenities and cozy extra big terrycloth towels. All rooms are equipped with a Marshall speaker-box, a 42‘‘ HD TV and a tablet-PC, which functions as an online-concierge.

A Place with Character and Soul

The interior design tells tales of the building’s origins, which date back to the 18th century, when it served as a monastery. In the public areas, hand-selected vintage-furnishings alternate with original details, telling stories about travelling in the 19th century. The travel theme was inspired by LISSI’s namesake, Empress Elisabeth, (in Austria shortened ‚Lissi‘), who, during her reign, held together a great empire with her numerous journeys. Fine materials such as wood wall paneling reflect the elegance of the era. Modern accents and vintage industrial elements add contrast. „Our target group does not ascribe luxury to a golden faucet, but rather seeks to stay in locations with character and soul,” Struck clarifies. RUBY curates its own City Guide with personal recommendations for restaurants, bars and shops and offers guests bicycles for exploring the city as well.

A Passion for Music and Local References

Every room is equipped with a Marshall amplifier, ready for spontaneous jam sessions. The matching electric guitars can be lent at the bar for free. Alternatively, hotel guests can play their own playlists by connecting their smartphone to the amp. RUBY’s passion for music can also be experienced through RUBY RADIO, the hotel’s own radio stream. It plays a personal music selection 24/7 and can also be followed outside of the hotel through an online stream. The 24/7 RUBY LISSI BAR regularly hosts performances of local musicians and DJs.

The local roots of the hotel also show in what is on the menu. Sourced locally and mostly organic, LISSI offers a great breakfast, which is in line with modern nutritional preferences: Whole-grain baked goods, hand cut fruit, and powerfood granola, all complemented by barista coffee by Hausbrandt.

Five more Hotels under Construction

Further RUBY hotels are already in the pipeline: In cooperation with Allianz Real Estate, Patrizia and other renowned real estate partners, five more openings are to follow until 2018, amongst others in Dusseldorf and Hamburg.
