Hamburgs Most Instagrammable Spots

Hamburg 4
Get ready to level up your Instagram game with insider tips from our favorite locals, including savvy blogger Sarah Ploss and the fantastic duo Mrs. Politely Delicious. From the iconic harbor views at Landungsbruecken to the picturesque Niederbaumbruecke offering the best shot of Speicherstadt, Hamburg's photogenic gems are waiting to spice up your feed.

Hamburg, with its many beautiful alleys, photogenic bridges, and countless facets, has long established itself as a true urban hotspot, inviting you to capture your stay with a photo. But because we all know the struggle of trying to take the perfect vacation picture, we asked a couple of our favorite Hamburg locals for their insider tips on the most Instagram-worthy spots in the city.

Hamburg-based blogger Sarah Ploss knows all about taking the perfect Instagram picture and is always on the lookout for new perspectives on her hometown. Therefore, we're excited she decided to share two favorite locations with us.

"The gate to the world" – Hamburg's harbor didn't get that name for no reason. Sarah often comes here to sit down on top of one of the stone walls by the youth hostel, directly beside the Landungsbruecken railway station. Sitting there, you can lean back and enjoy the most beautiful view over both of the cranes and the Elphi. It’s a great place to relax - either with friends and a cold bottle of beer or by yourself with good music.

In Hamburg, there is no getting around a harbor tour. One of Sarah's personal favorites is the light tour. Sunsets immerse the city in a sea of colors for a short amount of time, and as darkness falls, the lights of the harbor become more and more prominent and sparkling. There is nothing more impressive than sailing very close to and almost under a container ship while you're in a small barge. And like Sarah - we, too - have a favorite tour. We really love the Abicht cruise.

Sophia Jaensch, too, calls Hamburg her hometown and has some amazing insider tips for the most photogenic places in the city, some of which she shared with us.

The Niederbaumbruecke is located close to the Baumwall stop. It offers the best view over Hamburg's historic Speicherstadt, the redesigned Elbpromenade, the Niederhafen harbor with hundreds of ships laying there, and our beautiful Elbphilharmonie. Sophia recommends this place not only for getting the perfect shot but also for a walk through Hafencity, the countless small alleys of Speicherstadt, or along the Fischbroetchen stands on the Elbpromenade up to the Landungsbruecken.

Let’s not overlook Winterhude with its variety of small canals and bridges: On a walk through Winterhude you will immediately notice several Instagrammable spots, as the district with its many canals, cozy cafes, small boutiques, and countless bridges offers a lot of possibilities for the perfect Instagram picture. Furthermore, it is only a stone's throw from the Alster or the beautiful Harvestehude district with its amazing house facades.

Anyone can do the Alster arcades and Ballindamm. But the television tower is just equally as impressive. Another really beautiful spot for Sophia is, therefore, the exhibition halls. They offer a lot of space for cool photo projects, and the TV tower definitely looks good in the background. Furthermore, Hamburg's Schanzenviertel, which is home to hip bars and trendy pubs as well as a lot of street art and run-down corners for casual pictures, is not far away and offers lots of opportunities for exploring another side of the city.

Last but not least, our friends at Mrs. Politely Delicious know Hamburg and its hidden treasures like no other and shared their favorite pick with us. The “Hamburger Marktzeit” is every foodie's dream and the perfect place for all food lovers who need some inspiration for their feed. Every first Saturday of the month, the FABRIK is transformed into a unique neighborhood market. Whether it's coffee from a local roasting company, exotic delicacies from all over the world, or a glass of wine in the evening - this one-of-a-kind location invites you to spend countless hours here. Tip: Be sure to check the website for current events in advance. This way, you don't miss great events like the "Taco Festival," the "Cheese & Wine" fair, or the "Ramen Festival".
